patrick herrmann (born 12 february 1991) is a german professional footballer who plays as a midfielder for borussia monchengladbach in the bundesliga.
born in saarbrucken, herrmann began playing football at fc uchtelfangen based in nearby illingen. at the age of 13 he joined 1. fc saarbrucken, before transferring to borussia monchengladbach in the summer of 2008. on 16 january 2010, herrmann made his first team debut, appearing as a substitute in a bundesliga match against vfl bochum.
herrmann has represented the german national team at every level of youth football between the under-16s and under-21s.
